Pakistan, Swat, Barabandai, 2010: Laskars members having a night patrol around the streets of their village. The operation is repeated till 5:00am, and can involve even the joungest members.

Pakistan, Swat Valley, Maban Dheri, March 2011: Lashkar patroling the area around their village on the only road that leads to the village. As the road gets too muddy in the winter, usefull for 4X4 vehicles only, Maban Dheri remains mostly isolated for nearly 4 months per year.

Hujrà in Pashtun culture is a place where tribal elders assamble to discuss different issues besides be in touch with each other. Sometimes in these places elders use to hold meetings also called Jirga, to settle any sort of dispute or evolve future strategies.

Pakistan, Swat, Barabandai, Nov: 2010: Members of Lashker making preparations for performing “Pehra”, night patrolling, at the Hujra of a tribal elder Ahmed Khan, whose portrait is on the wall. Three of his bodyguards and one nephew were gunned down in 2008 by the militants, during the Taliban regime that has taken place in the the Swat valley before the military operation in May 2009.
