Massimo Berruti is an Italian documentary photographer, university lecturer, researcher and contributor for international publications such as National Geographic, and the New York Times. He is particularly interested in social and geopolitical dynamics. 

He is best known for his long project in Pakistan, from where he worked on his first book, Lashkars, Ed Actes Sud, published by the Carmignac Foundation.

Berruti has won numerous awards including the Joop Swart Masterclass, 2 World Press Photo Awards, and 3 Pictures of the Year International. As well as a Visa d'Or Award, the Magnum Foundation EF, the Carmignac Photojournalism Award and the Fellowship to the W. Eugene Smith Award, among many others.

His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums, including the Saatchi Gallery in London, the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, the MEP in Paris, and at major international festivals such as VISA POUR L'IMAGE and Arles.

A selection of his images is a permanent part of the Carmignac collection and the MAXXI museum in Rome.

After leaving AgenceVU in 2017 Berruti became one of the founding members of MAPS Images, gathering an important number of well internationally known Photographers and Creatives.
